Pgs 8 & 9  T&T at risk of being left behind in technology, TT IFC head warns

If T&T does not focus on technology as a critical element throughout the nation’s organisations, it can be at risk of being overtaken by other countries in the world argued the CEO of the T&T International Finance Centre (IFC), Omar Sultan-Khan. In an interview with the Business Guardian, Sultan-Khan explained that the IFC’s major concern for T&T is that it gets left behind in an increasingly digital world.

According to Sultan-Khan, as long as businesses and institutions in the country continue to focus on technology as crucial to the nation’s progress we will ensure T&T remains the financial centre of the Caribbean. This is one of the reasons that the TT IFC launched the Fin- Tech Association of T&T. Sultan-Khan noted that the TT IFC is the enabling agency, through the Ministry of Finance, to assess market trends concerning FinTech and to provide a response for the government and regulators, from a policy making perspective . One of the main goals of the TT IFC, through the FinTech Association is to establish a cashless society, said Sultan-Khan.
